G.W. Clemmer Civil War Diary
Found in the files of the Polk County News, beginning May 11, 1961: Roy G. Lillard, Polk County Historian secured the diary of G.W. Clemmer for publication. Mr. Clemmer served as 3rd Sgt., and later as 3rd Lt. of Company “C” — 3rd Tennessee Confederate Volunteers. The author of the diary was the father of J.D. Clemmer and the grandfather of Lucy, Sudie, and Dan O. Clemmer. Mr. Lillard wrote a short biography, then published the roll of the company, then the diary followed. There were some issues missing.
